Hello -

Here are some confirmed quotes I've gotten from a few dealers on LX
and DX's (DX with AC) for 2004 and 2003. From what I'm told, the 2003
is the same as the 2004, so there will be a savings if you go with the
2003. The DX Accord is the ultra-budget model, but you might want to
step up to the LX, which is about $2000-$2200 more and includes power
windows, power locks, cruise control, and keyless remotes). You're
looking at about $800 to $1000 less for a 5-speed. You'll have to add
between $100 and $200 for new or transfer plates. Ask about their $0
down offers.

Many places will "match or beat any price," so you'll have to do some
negotiating to get the best price. In some cases, I bounced prices
off of them from another dealer to see if I could knock a few hundred
off. They're all going to be within a few hundred dollars of each
other. According to Maroone Honda, the cars come with a 3 yrs, 36,000
mi, bumper-to-bumper warranty from Honda itself. Prices below include
tax and delivery.

Please note, this answer is not finished until you're satisfied with
it. If you choose to rate this answer, I ask that you do so after
asking for any needed clarification or information. Thanks for your
understanding.

Thanks for your help. Looks like I can't buy any of these as I have a
$12,000 budget which I didn't mention because I thought they were in
that range (sorry). Looks like I need a cheaper model (must by
Automatic, with AC and CD player) or a used car with a good warrenty.
Can you continue to help? Thank you.

I will see what I can do.

Let me clarify first... when you say "used car," what cars would
qualify? Just Hondas? What about the year? Are you flexible with
going over the $12,000 at all?

jbf-Thanks. Any good used car with a good warrenty would be OK except
I think a Honda is appropriate for the person I am buying the car for.
$12,000 is pretty firm - maybe there is a lease i could get which is
cheaper than buying - but would have to be a 20,000mile/year, not
standard 12,000 mile lease as usual. I am going to try to buy/lease
this Sunday as in the original question. Hope this helps you help me.
I know I,m not appearing too sure of myself, but I hate buying cars
and want to find something safe, reliable, good warrenty from a good
dealer in that region of Florida (I live in Phila, Pa and could buy
here as have shipped ($500) down there if that would be easier.) jran

Hello again -

A few of the dealers I originally contacted have some ready deals for
you. $12,000 seems to be a good price for a decent used car. There
are a lot of options out there. It's all going to come down to what
your preference is.
There are a few variables in terms of financing as well.

You could possibly get away with leasing an $18,000 car and paying
similar payments that you would with a significantly cheaper car.
You'll have to discuss this with the rep(s). It's also very difficult
(and unadvisable) to buy a car without seeing it first, so I don't
know what your plan is in terms of visiting in person. Delivery is
definitely cheaper the closer you are.

In the case where a car doesn't have a CD player, but you could buy a
cheap after-market one for $200 and have it shipped there and
installed for something like $50, adding very little to the total
price (especially if you negotiate it in). Let me know if it works
out...
