I just added a new hard drive to my computer and now i've lost both
the DVD drive & CDRW drive. they are not in "My Computers". I tried
running "Add Hardeware Wizard" several times but that doesnt detect
them. When i put a cd in the led lights up and i can hear them spin,
so i know they both work, it just seems like the computer cant
recognize them at all. what can i do?

Which operating system are you using? Do you have drivers for the drives installed?

It's more than likely you have a conflict with your new drive and your
CD Drives. Which drivers are on which IDE Cables, and what is the
jumpers set to? Each IDE cable should have a MASTER and a SLAVE
drive. If you have two drives set to both master or both slave, they
will not work.

To extend that comment: if any one of them is set to cable select,
then they need to be in the correct position in the cable.

Also, believe it or not some drives do not like other drives. I have
been thru many CD-Roms that just dont play right with others, or they
just dont allow a slave. You might have to play with putting them on
different settings before you get the perfect fit. =)
