Hello Suejo-ga!

What a great question! I was interested as soon as I spotted it. I
have a passion for helping others and it?s refreshing to see others
with similar desires. I?m thrilled to be able to help you with
something like this. This is very, very kind and giving of you and I
hope that your experience with volunteering with one of the following
agencies is as enriching for you as it is helpful to others. It?s
wonderful to be a part of making a difference in the lives of people.
Okay, here we go with information and a number of leads and resources
for you! I am providing you with 2 possibilities?one from my research
and one from my own personal experience.

1. Violence Intervention Program?the NH chapter of S.A.F.E.
http://www.violenceinterventionprogram.net/

I searched a number of databases, including those listed below and by
and large, this is the one to which most refer as the leading program
in New Hampshire for violence prevention, including preventing
violence against children. They have a number of volunteer
opportunities from which to choose so that you can be involved in
areas of activity that you enjoy and with age groups with which you
prefer to work.

More specifics about volunteer opportunities with SAFE can be found
here: http://www.altrue.net/site/vip/section.php?id=3041.

There is also a lot of good information available by clicking on the
link on the right side of the
http://www.violenceinterventionprogram.net/ homepage where it says,
?Our services are available to ALL victims.?

This agency also meets your requirement of being a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

2. Though the organization that I have listed as #1 meets your
requirements and answers your question, I personally feel it is
important and worthwhile to mention another agency that is dedicated
to preventing violence against children through strengthening
families?Parents Anonymous. Your specific mention of the word
?prevention? caught my attention, as I strongly believe that
prevention is key in these issues; and this organization is also
dedicated to the prevention of violence against children.

I volunteered/interned with this organization for about a year and I
was extremely impressed by their mission and programs. I volunteered
in many areas, including answering Lifeline calls from home,
facilitating support groups, and facilitating parent education groups.
The parent education groups were my favorites. Each week, I helped
teach a group of parents who were trying to be better in general and,
for many of them, less abusive in particular. Some of the participants
voluntarily enrolled, others were referred through various agencies,
and some were court-ordered to attend. It was quite a mix, but as a
group, we developed a real bond and not only was I able to help them
learn some amazing parenting principles, I learned many myself in the
process! I can?t say enough good about this organization and I truly
saw the program make a difference. I witnessed it firsthand. I even
helped to organize the group that I facilitated. The area where we met
didn?t have any established groups, but the need was there, so I
helped publicize it and worked together with the state?s central
agency to take the necessary steps to get it started. I also helped to
recruit local youth who were screened and trained to be childcare
workers (they were paid a small stipend)?while parents attended the
group that I facilitated, the youth would watch their children for
them just down the hall in the same building. We followed a curriculum
and the weekly education and support were really amazing. I highly
recommend at least looking at what this organization has to offer as a
possibility for you as you seek out a great place at which to
volunteer.

opportunities that may interest you. I am amazed at how many online
volunteer databases exist and at how many service opportunities are
available in which you can participate both in and out of your own
