Hi I am an Australian distributor looking for new opportunites in importing mens streetwear into the Australian market. Specifically, I am looking for a "New York" style of urban streetwear (preferably from the U.S) which is not well established in Australia. These are labels that are now starting to make a name for themselves. Well known examples I like include Zoo York, 555 Soul, Tsubi, Stussey (when it first started) and Carhartt but these are now "discovered" per se. I do not want hip hop labels such as Sean John or Fubu or skatewear or rave music labels. These labels I seek are typically exemplified in your Urban Outfitters Stores(U.S) and General Pants Stores (Australia) catering 18-35 male demographic. Could you please provide label names, websites, pictures, editorial and contacts. Regards Andrew |

Well stateside there are alot of companies that may sell well on your side of the world.... the most popular in my particular area is American Eagle Outfitters, which is sort of an Abercrobie and fitch style clothing without the so hefty price tag, also increasingly growing in popularity is the store Aeropostale which is sort of a blend between an Old Navy and an American Outfitters.... The new look in america for those do not wish to be labeled "skater punks" or "rappers" has been the used clothing look. Outside seeking those looks which i beleive have alllready hit your shores i don't know what sort of answer you are looking for and perhaps may have asked a question which is too specific or unanswerable. |

also zoo york is known i beleive as a "skater" brand so, you actually may be looking at clothing for people who think they are skaters or BMX riders and a good source would be the companies CCS or Dan's Competition |

Hi Akira The labels you mentioned are a great start. I guess skatewear (more than bmx or rapwear) could be identified if its accepted by an adult market like stussey, zoo york, etc. Grafitti inspired is good to. Used clothing look sounds great so yes, those labels would appeal especially in vintage denim, tees and caps. I have been to New York and know that heaps of these boutiques exist, just need to know how to find them and view them. Anything else I can clarify please let me know. If its too hard please let me know and I'll try repost a different question. Cheers Andrew |

Have you thought about selling lesser known Australian designers? There were some great things shown during Melbourne Fashion Week. Have a look at the parades at www.vogue.com.au. |

Thanks for your link. Will definitely look at this for some inspiration. Australian fashion I believe is heading in a fantastic direction ie: Vicious Threads, White Label etc, however our company only deals with imports presently. One day hopefully, we'll go down the export track. |

I know this is pretty late but... try www.fourforty.co.nz, its a newish NZ label all manufactured in NZ that is moving very heavily towards the genre of streetwear that you are after, I actually design for them thats how i know, the summer range online now is probably not what your after, but the preview to next winter (we are taking orders now) is more up your alley, also we are currently designing our tees for next summer and it is looking very NEW YORK and streetwearish, i can send you some preview designs if you wanna get a better picture of what im talking about, anyway look on the site and my contact details are there under 'contacts'. Peace Mark |
