Hi, I need to buy about 100 inexpensive wrist watches for a medical
charity in Haiti, to help their rural patients keep track of time for
their prescription regimens and appointments. What is the best place
to buy 100 such watches? I want something inexpensive yet reliable and
not easily broken.

Hello,

To further assist researchers that may answer your question, could you
please tell us the following :

 - Haiti - Is there where you would like to find the watches?
 - Flexibility of 'inexpensive'

Thanks in advance,
SgtCory

Hi SgtCory,

I'd like to buy the watches from some trusted vendor on the net, I
don't care where they physically come from. I would have them shipped
to me in Boston, and then I will hand carry them when I next visit
Haiti in January.

As for price: I was thinking that I should be able to get a decent
quality wristwatch for about $5 if I buy in quantity. (E.g., last week
I was in New York City and once again saw all the street vendors
selling the really nice looking fake/illegal Rolexes etc for $10 for
quantity one...)

Thanks,
Paul

have you tried contacting the public relations offices at some
inexpensive-type wristwatch manufacturers to see if they would like to
make an in-kind charitable contribution in the form of the watches?
Are you affiliated or under the aegis of a 501c(3)tax deductible
organization? Have you tried a quick search for some foundations
interested in your issues? For a small donation like this, you might
be able to get a grant quickly without waiting for the formal funding
cycle. If you've already tried these...never mind:)

A bunch of knock-offs with quantity discounts- have no idea of quality, etc.
Also: you could try HongKong and other mass-production markets who
deal bulk only- sites are sometimes difficult to navigate and read in
English- the Embassies or Consulates can give you some information,
too. I've gotten some very helpful advice and contacts from some of
them. Luck to you

Labor is quite cheap in China. May not be the best quality, but you
might be able to find some bargains here.
