The search you specify produces sites which contain the term
www.gpsexplorer.com, however, the links that Google is using to count
toward page rank are shown using the Backward Links function of the
Toolbar, as shown here:
://www.google.com/search?q=link%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gpsexplorer.com
which turns up only 32 links. Of course, only backward links with
PageRank of 4 or greater themselves are shown. Pages with PageRank of
3 or less may also contribute minute amounts of PageRank, but won't be
listed.
The problem isn't the inbound links or mentions of the URLs
themselves, but transfer of PageRank vote to the home page via
internal site linkage, and thereby, conferring PageRank to the entire
site. I can point you to instructions which explain how to maximize
PageRank from incoming links.
As independent contractors rather than employees, GoogleAnswers
Researchers don't have any special insider knowledge of the Google
PageRank algorithm, except as we've acquired as professionals in our
own fields. We don't have preferrential access to Google for
questions.
My observation about adult terms in domain names comes from annecdotal
experience with another such domain name and website. A hyphen was
added, the old domain name retired with a permanent redirect.
Promotion activities resumed, with much increased success.
To acquire the best opinions in the business, and maybe even a
confirmation of their hypotheses by an official Google member, I
suggess you join WebmasterWorld forums and pose the "adult term
keyword as part of a domain name" question there. Membership is
required for posting privileges. Our Research Guidelines don't
