A cargo aircraft belonging to Hydro Air Cargo, Boeing 747-258C, ZS-OOS
crashed in Lagos on 28 November 2003. Conflicting reports say that
this was a take-off accident not a landing accident. Kindly confirm.
No information available from SACAA. Current local information to hand
indicates that co-pilot was not rated on the 747. Can you provide the
names of the pilots?

Dear marelena1-ga,
I have found information which answers the first part of your
question. It consists of two news articles and a web site specialising
in reporting air accidents. They all provide a similar, fairly
detailed report. As the accident was only recent, I believe the
investigators are still conducting their inquiry. It would appear the
main thrust of the investigation is: why was the aircraft was on a
closed runway when the accident happened?
Despite extensive searching I have been unable able to establish the
name of the pilots.
Would the above information answer your question? Or do you wish
another researcher to try?

Maybe if you look a gie it a bit of time you will be able to locate
the names of the pilots. As far as I know one or maybe both were
slightly injured.

Hello again marelena1

Interestingly the number of crew on board at the time varies from 4,
7, and 9 although the majority of reports say 9 crew members were on
board.

"Two weeks ago, a crew of four landing at Lagos, Nigeria, were cleared
to use a runway where construction vehicles were parked. The ensuing
crash ripped a wing off the Boeing 747 cargo jet although the crew
survived."

"All seven crew members survived the incident while the aircraft was landing"

"OCCUPANTS: 9 crew"

Very best regards
