My wife and son (aged 22) are staying about 5miles out of Quakertown PA without transport .There is no bus service into town and the local taxi firm is 15 miles away seemingly . I gather Car Hire may be impossible as my son is too young so I am trying to find a. a garage or dealership who could sell him a cheap car for the 3 weeks and buy it back or b. ditto for a scooter c. a friendly person who might have a second/old car they dont use and would be prepared to rent for 3 weeks. d. we would be happy to pay any extra insurance for that 3 weeks. Any bright constructive ideas welcome but my wife does not drive |

I live in Quakertown, PA and you are correct, there is no public transportation or taxi service readily available. The closest "big" city with more transportation options is Allentown / Bethlehem which is about 25 minutes away by car. There is a rental car company, Enterprise Rent A Car that you may want to call +1 (215) 536-1727. Where will you be staying and how will you be getting there? Maybe I can think of some ideas for you if I knew that. |

I would just like to clarify the comment made by tlspiegel. The Borough of Quakertown does not cover most of the area commonly referred to as Quakertown. You may also want to check with Richland Township (www.richlandtownship.org) which covers a much larger area. However, I'm not sure what either of them can tell you because they are mainly administrative offices. As far as newspapers, the Morning Call is actually a larger circulation paper (main office is in Allentown) but they do have a Quakertown bureau. |
