Question ID: 283362
I am looking for the name, phone number and web site address of the
company that make or sale this watch.
This watch have no hands and no digital numbers, the face of the watch
have 2 groups of 4 pins (kind of like if you look at a domino cube, a
rectangle that is divided into 2 squares). The watch tell the time be
raising and lowering these 8 pins. For example, if the group that
represent the hours have 1 pin raised then the hour is 1,
2 pins then the hour is 2,
3 pins then the hour is 3,
4 pins then the hour is 4,
2 pins in diagonal then the hour is 5,
the other diagonal then the hour is 6,
2 lower pins raised then the hour is 7,
2 right pins raised then the hour is 8,
2 upper pins raised then the hour is 9,
2 left pins raised then the hour is 10,
all pins raised then the hour is 11,
no pins raised then the hour is 12.

I might be wrong on the exact order but this is the idea, the minutes
group (4 pins) are the same ideas and represent 5 minutes intervals
for the pins pattern.

When I say "Watch" I mean "Wristwatch"

Hi leesagi,

I couldn't locate any other reference to this wristwatch except this
message. Apparently someone else is interested in this watch too.

Hopefully another researcher will be able to find it for you.

Greetings Leesagi:

I haven't yet located the watch but here is an article that may be of interest:
DESIGN OF A DIGITAL BRAILLE WRISTWATCH
http://www.iit.edu/~ipro303m01/ipro303/midtermprog.html

Also, from http://www.time4watches.com/Backissue_WatchTime_template.htm
the February 2001 issue contains "Three Minimalists - The present and
future of wristwatch design" and "Watch of the Year Design Award - the
17 most innovative design watches at last year's Basel Fair"

It may be the watch is present in that issue.

Best regards,
journalist-ga

WOW! I was just thinking of posting this same question. I have been
looking for this watch for a long time.

Here is some information I know.

I first saw this on a program called "Beyond 2000". I think this ran
on the Discovery channel. This had to be close to 8 years ago or
more. The watch they showed was gold in appearance and was exactly as
you described.

If I recall correctly, the person who made the watch was from Italy or
France. I attempted to fax them a request for more information at one
point but was unsuccessful at getting a response. I no longer have
the fax number I had.

Here I spent several years thinking that I was the only crazy one.

Here is the deal. I saw the watch on the Discovery Channel. They
used to have a show called the Smithsonian. The host was Lucky
Severson I think.

What I can remember is that the inventor was Italian and he has a
patent on this design. I tried to find the patent but it is like
looking for a needle in the universe.

If anybody finds out anything about this watch, could you please include me in?

I am desperate for this watch.
