Question ID: 283399
I want to know the (1) overall market size, in term of number of lamp,
of street lamp (street lighting) in the United States; (2) breakdown
of market size of street lamp in highway, expressway, town center
and other road types in the United States; (3) power consumption (in Watt
or currency) of street lamp in the United States

If direct national statistics is not available and figures are
inferred (eg from a few cities to project the whole country, or from
road length and number of street lamp in different types of roads
etc), then the supporting figures should be sufficient so that a
reasonable estimates can be produced. Supporting is required in any
case.

Hello Kwokfai,
I did some preliminary research on your topic on the Net, but I
couldn't find any free information that will answer your question.
Only expensive reports for research companies can be found that are
about the lighting industry in certain countries and regions. I am
sure though that isn't what you want. I will see if anything else
comes up, but I expect your topic, even for those in your other
questions, to be quite difficult to get info on, so I hope you won't
be alarmed if it takes long.

Dear Techtor,

Thanks for trying and I look forward to hearing from you. I
understand that direct national statistics may not be available. I
do, however, accept a reasonable deduction if there reasonable
assumptions (of course, assumptions need supporting) are used for the
deduction. For the US, I found the street light numbers for just two
cities. To do a proper projection to cover the whole country, more
data points are needed. I also found recommendation of and
requirements for street lighting to (different types of) road length
ratio in certain counties. The key problem with data in the US,
Canada and some other European countries are information overload with
too many different departments each having a bit of data.

I think some magazines may have helpful data but I do not have assess
to those magazine in the US and Europe. Surprisingly, I have found
these data for China (a country where statistics are always
unavailable) in some industrial magazines. I hope some magazines may
provide more data points for a country-wide projection.

For instance, I am doing a worldwide lighting industry research for my
research paper and if my current questions yield some fruitful
answers, I will post more questions in some other area regarding the
lighting industry.

For street lighting requirement, I used the keywords "highway" "street
lighting" "ratio" for google search.

I also found a previous answered question (of google) regarding
Lighting regulation and pollution interesting.

Hello Kwokfai,
Sorry for replying only after such a long time. Since you mentioned
magazines about the lighting industry, I must in turn mention that I
don't have access to such magazines in print, nor have I found
magazines online with the information you seek for free. Market
research reports will certainly have the information you seek too. I'm
not sure if other researchers have access to those magazines or
publications, but those who do will be able to address you in this
question.

This is posted as a comment since it doesn't provide an answer. Here's
an example of a purchaseable published report which may have all the
info you want:

But with that $1000 price, I can tell you're looking for another way
to get this. Good luck to you then.
