WOMEN, INFANTS & CHILDREN PROGRAM (WIC)
Often, families find themselves in need as a direct result of someone
in the family being disabled due to addition or incarcerated. ?The WIC
program is offered through the Department of Public Health to
qualified residents. WIC provides nutritional education, nutritious
foods to pregnant, post partum or breast-feeding women, and to infants
and children under five years of age with special nutritional needs.
The program provides milk, cheese, eggs, cereal, juice, formula, baby

MENTAL HEALTH/MENTAL RETARDATION SERVICES
A child?s mental well-being if often an issue when a family member
(particularly a parent) is addicted to drugs or is incarcerated.
?Mental health and mental retardation services are provided by the
Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board. The Administrative
