Hello, mh1-ga!
I have geared my answer toward New York, New Jersey and Connecticut
as you specified in your question. There is so much information out
there that it was hard to know where to start and where to end! I am
sure there are many more conferences and workshops than I have
mentioned but the calender is not yet complete for 2004. There are
also many branch organizations stemming from the ones I have listed.
Most of the organizations I have listed are loaded with links to
seminars, recreational activities and further resources of
information. I am sure you will find more than enough information
within them all.

Clarification of Answer by
umiat-ga
on
10 Dec 2003 23:03 PST
Hello again, mh1!
I truly hope this further information will help.
In response to your clarification:
"I am looking for organizations that provide services to the
cognitively disabled who possibly would be interested in my software."
I have to say that there are numerous organizations provided in my
initial answer that would serve your needs perfectly. There is no
reason why you cannot go through them and send them a brochure or
description (or even visit to set a sample demonstration) of your
software. You could even set up a sample demonstrations in some
schools with special education teachers.
=
"The directories that I am asking for is for ny nj and ct of
organizations providing services to this population."
I have already provided you with many, many organization names. If
you want the organizations listed all in one place, most directories
are online. However, I have found online directories for CT, NY and NJ
that you "might" be able to order as a hard copy. They are listed
below.
=
"I'm looking for fairs or expos where I can showcase and demonstrate
my software that I developed that is geared to the cognitively
disabled and the mentally retarded."
I have found several expos that would be suitable for marketing your
software, but except for one in New Jersey, they are all in other
states. If Maryland or Virginia is within your reach you can attend
the best of all conferences - the "WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES Disabilities
Expo." I have provided information below.
