A couple months ago I came across this prosthetic skin material that
actually tanned when you put it in the sun. Originally, I found it
just browsing the web. I have looked everywhere and have been unable
to find it again.
Most prosthetic skin materials get "tanned" by rubbing some liquid
into them which darkens them. But specifically I am interested in
fake skin that will darken in the sun. |

Hi kster,
I believe I have found the prosthetic material you are looking for.
However, since I cannot be positive this is it, I would like you read
this and see if it describes the material you're searching for.
"The top or surface skin layer, the epidermis, holds the pores,
wrinkles and fingerprints. This layer also contains melanin, the
pigment that creates suntan and darker skin types. Like human skin,
our product's epidermal layer also contains pores and skin detail. Our
sculptors achieve this meticulously detailed skin surface by
artistically combining impressions of natural skin and hand rendered
detail into each master model. The natural melanin is simulated
through custom applied pigments saturated within this silicone skin
layer."
Let me know if you think this is the one. Thanks.
Regards,
rainbow~

I can't tell just from your description, although it says they have
"simulated natrual melanin" that doesn't necessarily mean this fake
skin will darken by itself when put in the sun.
The description does sound familiar, maybe you found LivingSkin.com?
If this is true, but this one does not tan itself. You have to rub
some sort of lotion or cream into the "skin" which darkens it.

Hi kster,
Actually the site I was referring to was LivingSkin. My apologies for
the misunderstanding. I'll keep searching and let you know if I find
anything else.
