Dear arthur767-ga
Kapok is the name for fibers derived from the seeds of the silk-cotton
or Kapok Tree, or the tree itself.
The fibers are lightweight and waterproof, and are used in furniture,
insulation, and stuffing. It is also found inside some life jackets
and sleeping bags. The tree is native to the tropical American forests
and has been widely introduced throughout the world. The tree is
large, with a spreading top, large trunk and palm shaped leaves. The
fibrous seeds are to be found in 6? long football-shaped pods.
