I once saw an advertisement for a company that provides private,
discrete, evening aerial tours over the bay area for couples to join
the "mile-high" club. I thought this would be a perfect gift for some
friends I know in San Francisco (honestly....I live in Texas ;-) ),
but I can't find the company. Web site or phone number would be
great. Thanks!!!

There used to be a website for a service based in San Jose called
"Fantasies Aloft" that offered "Mile High Club" flights. Thunderbird
Aviation operated the service. Here is an archived page from the
now-defunct Fantasies Aloft site:

http://web.archive.org/web/20001202202200/www.fantasiesaloft.com/about.htm

"Mile High Club" is an entry in this list, using the same address and
phone as Thunderbird Aviation:

"Mile High Club
1250 Aviation Ave, San Jose, CA (408) 275-8500"

http://www.theadventurepages.com/?action=browse&categoryid=216

There's an active website called milehighclub.com which has a section
for "flight referrals", but no northern California locations are
listed there:

http://milehighclub.com/flights.html

An article about the concept, with more listings, but still nothing in
the Bay Area:

http://www.77002.com/rant/mile%20high%20club.htm

Yet another article with listings. This one mentions the San Jose firm:

If any of this is useful, I'll be glad to write up an answer for you.
If not, perhaps another Researcher will be able to find precisely what
you need.

Your answer is probably about as good as possible, so its worth the
ten bucks. If another researcher has more positive results, that'd be
worth another ten bucks too. Thanks.

Thank you for accepting as an answer the material that I've found. I
have reposted the links below, with some additional material.

There used to be a website for a service based in San Jose called
"Fantasies Aloft" that offered "Mile High Club" flights. Here is an
archived page from the now-defunct site:

Archived copy from Fantasies Aloft

Another mention of Thunderbird:

"San Jose-based Thunderbird Aviation is offering what it calls
"Fantasies Aloft" flights designed specifically for couples who want
to roll in the hay while flying the friendly skies.

For around $500, you get an hour-long flight in a private jet that
features a feather bed and a CD player primed with romantic tunes."

This article mentions a Los Angeles firm that offers flights on its
"love bird" aircraft:

Plane and Pilot Magazine

The aptly named "Love Air" makes private "romantic adventure" flights
in southern British Columbia:

And last, but not least, here's a southern California firm that offers
a discreet "special flight" in a hot air balloon, complete with "mile
high" pins for him and her:

Hot Air Adventures

Google search strategy:

Google Web Search: "private" + "flight" + "mile high club"

Google Web Search: "mile high club" + "charter"

Thanks for an interesting question! I'm not a member of the club, but
a person can dream. After all, several years ago there was a popular
slogan: Fly United. ;-)

If anything is unclear, or if a link doesn't work for you, please
request clarification; I'll gladly offer further assistance before you
rate my answer.

Best wishes,

My good friend and colleague juggler-ga passed this 8-year-old news
article along. I could find no evidence that "Mile High Airways" is
still in operation, but the article is interesting:
