Question for any Art History buffs out there... The below links go to photographs of two serigraphic prints: http://www.iowni.com/storage/ang-01.jpg http://www.iowni.com/storage/ang-02.jpg The original prints were made by a photographer named Borge Tobiasson, and depict an real-world statue of an angel. The question is: What is this statue named and where is it located? |

Dear blackrock, Following the excellent hint of the commenter below, marie4-ga, I searched and found more photographs of that particular statue, to make sure it is indeed the right one. I came to the conclusion that the tomb angel on the Italian website is identical with the one on the pictures by Borge Tobiasson. The statue is part of the tomb of Francesco Oneto, located in the Cimitero di Staglieno (Staglieno Cemetery) in Genova, Italy. It was created in 1882 by the Italian sculptor Giulio Monteverde (1837-197). The Oneto Tomb is located in the so-called "Upper Sunset Gallery" (porticato superiore a ponente), niche XIII. In case you need it, here is contact information for the Staglieno Cemetery: Cimitero di Staglieno Piazzale Resasco Genova, 16137 ITALY -- Phone: +39 010 870184 - and - +39 010 870185 Fax: +39 010 010 815960 Hope this helps! Very best regards, Scriptor | |

I could not have asked for a better answer. I wish to particularly thank marie4-ga for the hint that was the breakthrough. This is something I've wondered about for over a decade. |
