I am trying to find the racial breakdown of the population of each
country in Europe and Africa... ie x% white, x% black, x% Hispanic, x%
Muslim, etc. Just the basic current statistics. Is there a website out
there that does this?

I noticed that you entered a religious group (Muslim) in with your
examples of races so this is a bit confusing.

I'm not aware of a database that lists the population in groups of
pigmented races exclusively, but I do know of one that breaks down the
entire pupulation of every African nation into the most recently known
statistics according to ethnic group (and many other divisable groups,
such as religion, age, gender, etc). For example, one country lists
its population as being made up of:

"ETHNIC GROUPS: Oromo 40%, Amhara and Tigre 32%, Sidamo 9%, Shankella
6%, Somali 6%, Afar 4%, Gurage 2%, other 1%"

"REGLIOUS GROUPS: Muslim 45%-50%, Ethiopian Orthodox 35%-40%, animist
12%, other 3%-8%"

"LANGUAGES: Amharic, Tigrinya, Oromigna, Guaragigna, Somali, Arabic,
other local languages, English (major foreign language taught in
schools)"

...and so forth.

Would this database be sufficient as an answer to your question?

I should clarify that my source is not exclusive to AFRICA. It covers
population statistics in the same manner I described above for every
nation, including those in Europe and elsewhere.

Yes, I understand why my question was confusing. The website you
described would be extremely helpful. Thank you!

Dear amyst777-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question.

THE CIA WORLD FACTBOOK is a widely recognized source for a wide
variety of information about countries, their governments and their
people.

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/

The information in the Factbook is, as a rule, quite current and
reliable based on January data of each year. I was pleasantly
surprised however, when I noticed a comment on the opening page
indicating that the site?s data had been updated as recently as August
2003.

In the drop down menu, simply select a country of interest. The
database will automatically move to that country?s file and display
all pertinent information. I think you will be thoroughly impressed by
what you learn here.

If you would like to download previous versions of the world Factbook
for comparison purposes or to establish growth trends etc, you can get
the year 2000, 2001, and 2002 editions here:

I hope you enjoy the resources that I have pointed out and find that
my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any questions about
my research please post a clarification request prior to rating the
answer. Otherwise I welcome your rating and your final comments and I
look forward to working with you again in the near future. Thank you
for bringing your question to us.
