1. How many companies and organization with over 500 employees exist in the USA

2. A brake-down of #1:
 By their sectors; technology, medical, financial etc., 
 By region
 Public sector; federal and state gov. education 

3. Is there a general estimate of the number of "Information workers"
in the US, and a brake-down of the number.

What sort of "break-down" of "information workers" did you have in
mind?  By region? By sector?

Hi Juggler,

What I'm after particularly is figuring out the number of employees
using corporate networks; LAN WAN etc., especially at larger corporate
and organizations. the most useful breakdown would be by heir business
or gov sector.

If this is hard I'll be comfortable to gleam the numbers by making
assumptions based on list and breakdown of  #1 and #2.

1. How many companies and organization with over 500 employees exist in the USA?

In the latest survey of the US Census for 2001 the estimate is that
there are 58,710,411 businesses in the US with more than 500
employees.  A further breakdown of the figures is available at our
