How can I construct a very simple model of a river(i.e. mouth, source)

Here are step-by-step instructions with pictures for making a
miniature river basin. The finished model shows the main features of a
river; source, tributary, confluence and mouth.

You can also create a very simple model river with clay either on a
sheet of plywood, or on a plastic or metal tray.

?Start upstream and build up enough clay to represent mountains.
Downstream, the land should flatten out and lead to the mouth of your
river. Use the river system diagram as a guide.?

Place plastic wrap over the clay, providing a way for water to flow. 
Tilt the project as needed to aid water flow.  Using the eyedropper,
drop water down the model, starting at the source of the river:. Watch
the water's path.

Here is a teacher?s plan with instructions illustrating the course of a river

RESOURCES REQUIRED
A plastic tray 2m x 1m x 6cm (minimum size) with one of the shorter sides removed.
Sand.
A Watering can with a rose.
A plastic bucket.
2 house bricks.
A bench or old table to place the plastic tray on
