Hello puppetgirl,
I'm glad that I could find this information for you. So that the
information is in the Answer space, here again are the links to those
two articles, which you can purchase in full from the New York Times
or read at a library with access to those 1937 articles:
"Article Preview: DAUGHTER, 15, STABS FATHER TO DEATH:Girl Wrests

"QUEENS GIRL IS FREED IN FATHER'S STABBING:Court Holds Case Clearly

In general, large libraries are good sources for old newspaper
articles. Here are two large public libraries in New York, which
might also have other New York papers from that time. Other major
public or academic libraries, even in other parts of the country,
would probably be able to provide you with access to the New York
Times from 1937. If you don't have easy access to a library, you can
try contacting one of these libraries, or a library in your general
area, to find out how you can do this research.
