Windows XP Freeze on shutdown

My Laptop with windows XP freezes on shut down and if you try to hibernate it comes back with an error that the driver for COM 1 is not allowing the system to hibernate. I have checked the drivers and found that according to the system they are not in need of updating. If I disable the COM 1 port I get the same error only for a different port. HELP |
