Is there a control I can use to create a PDF viewer in Visual Basic. I would like to write a VB program that displays an encrypted PDF file. I'm looking for a free or very cheap method of doing this. Thank you. |

Hi Johngl, We did a bit of work in this area and there are some options available to you. Firstly if you have Acrobat Reader installed on your PC you will find a file called pdf.ocx in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\ActiveX folder. You can reference this in your program and this provides a fairly good PDF viewer. The only problems with this is the component is no longer supported by Adobe and may not always work. Another option is to buy the full Software Development Kit (SDK) and this gives you all the tools to do anything you like. And one last option is to start the acrobat reader application from the VB application. It will run as a separate application but it may do the job you're after. Thanks, Darren. |

Anything other than the pdf.ocx? Thanks. |
