What's the best recipe software on the market? I had thought it might
be the Joy of Cooking CD, but have read many negative reviews. I
realize, of course, that given the plethora of recipe sites on the
web, static software may not be the way to go at all. Still it would
be nice to have a comprehensive and easily navigable program,
especially one that would accept recipe updates from an associated web
site. Do any such offerings exist?

But, Pink, isn't "Now You're Cooking" simply a database program that
one fills with one's own recipes? I looked at the site you cited (love
that)and that appears to be what it is. I'm looking for a database
program that's already loaded with recipes. The Joy of Cooking CD
would be perfect, if it were an easily navigable mirror image of the
print edition, but it's apparently a disaster.

I have a friend who is ecstatic about "Now You're Cooking."

You can read some reviews here:

"Now You're Cooking" uses the Meal-Master recipe format. A gazillion
(give or take eleventy-seven) recipes in this format are readily
available:

OK, I just downloaded and installed "Now You're Cooking," and although
I like the format and all the bells and whistles, it's not really what
I am after. What I want is a CD database that replicates the print
edition of a published classic. Being the cookbook non-afficianado
that I am, however, The Joy of Cooking is the only example that comes
to mind.

Here's a software version of the Betty Crocker Cookbook:

What a coincidence! I had just done a search for cookbook software on
amazon and got the same hit. Betty Crocker is too grandmotherly for
me.

None of these seems to be quite what you're looking for. The Truly
International Cookbook looks interesting but I haven't been able to
find any reviews.
