I'm running Outlook 2002 Win 98 SD on a Dell Optiplex CX110 with 128MB
RAM. Gradually over the past couple of weeks, my machine has been
freezing with greater frequency and only when Outlook is running. At
this point, I have about 5
minutes in Outlook before it freezes up. When this happens, I have to
do CRTL/ALT/DLT and see that Outlook is not running, so I click end
task. I then re-open Outlook and can resume any work I was doing
(although the information in the envelope is usually lost).

Checking My Computer, Properties, Performance, I find that Resources
drop appreciably after opening Outlook. This problem happens when
Outlook is the only program running as well as when I run it along
with other applications.

What is the source of this problem and how can I fix it?

Hi,

Have you tried running the maintenance options within Outlook?

Thanks.

Other than to do a defrag, no. I'm not familiar with these. What
would you suggest?

Hi,

In Outlook Express, there's an button under options->maintenance that
says: "Clean up now" for cleaning up your message folder.

Do you have service pack 2 for Office XP? It actually sounds as if
there's a memory or CPU leak somewhere. Please check for updates at:

Thanks.
