If you have a phone number in the USA, are you looking for a voice
mail solution that allows you to assign a voice mailbox to the phone
number?  I.e., You don't even need a phone hooked up to the extension.
 It will simply pick up on a certain number of rings and take the
messages.  You can then dial a number and retrieve your messages from
anywhere.

If this sounds right, I can post the details on this.

Simply call your telephone company and ask about voice mail.

Verizon offer "home voice mail":

"Home Voice Mail lets you access messages from anywhere, at any time,

callers won't get busy signals. That's because Home Voice Mail answers
your phone calls while you're away, on the Internet, sending a fax or
taking another call."
