I'm on Windows XP Pro with ISA Firewall Client. I'm connected on a LAN
to a server running on Windows 2000 with Microsoft Small Business
Server and ISA Server.
The server is connected to a router/DSL modem, a Zyxel Prestige 643.
Problem: I can't get BitTorrent or any alternative BitTorrent program
working. I don't know if it has to do with the firewall or the router
or both...
I also can't transfer files on mIRC if that helps!
I have authorised access to all software/hardware.
How should I go about getting BitTorrent working? :)

Hi,

You need to route ports 6881-7000 to the PC you want to use Bittorrent on.
This will be in settings of your server. In the case of ISA you need
to follow what it says here:

IP packet filters
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/isa/proddocs/isadocs/m_p_c_allowblock.asp

For local computer, enter the IP of the XP Pro machine, for
port/direction/protocol, choose 6881-7000/incoming/TCP.

I hope this helps.

Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your help; unfortunately it's still not functioning at
all. It seems like there are so many variables I wouldn't know where
to start. I think I shall have to read up on ISA and the specific DSL
modem...
Thanks again for your help.

Hi,

What error message are you getting in BT? Is it unable to connect to
the tracker or is it unable to connect to peers? I think your problem
lies with ISA. It is mostly allowing incoming and outcoming
connections on ports 6881-7000 to your computer.

Thanks.
