I have a new Western Digital Hard drive and when I attempt to install the OS I get half way through and get a message stating some files did not get copied. This happen only on Western digital hard drive as I installed the same OS on a Maxtor Hard Drive and did not recieve any problems. This the 2nd new hard drive from western digital in the past 30 days. What do you think the problem is? I have a brand new CD rom drive. It is not the CD rom drive..What could the proble be ? or do I have another bad hard drive? | |

i remember experiencing similar problems on a WD HDD, until i figured out that i had limited the hard drive capability by the jumper setting, so that the partition that i was trying to install the OS on, had too little space, and always ran out of space at the same point, and gave file copying error. Try checking the hard drive jumper settings. Note: Maxtor doesn't give the jumper setting option to limit the hard drive capability. So far i have only seen it on WD HDD. |
