Ignore the printer driver that came with the Linksys EPSX3 and use the
built-in TCP/IP printing on Windows XP. Configure the Linksys printer
to use TCP/IP, setting the address to a static one that resides on
your home LAN. Make sure that you configure the logical ports if you
have more than one printer attached, or one attached to anything other
than P1. In Windows XP, click Start -> Settings -> Printers and Faxes.
Click Add a printer to launch the printer addition wizard. Click Next
on the first page of the wizard. Select Local printer attached to my
computer and click Next. On the next screen, select Create a Port. For
the type of port, select Standard TCP/IP Port. This will launch the
Add TCP/IP Printer wizard. Click Next on the first screen of the
wizard. On the next screen, enter the IP address that you assigned
your printer. For the port name, use L1, L2 or L3 depending on which
port you have the printer plugged into and which logical port you have
assigned to that physical port. Click Next. After a minute or so, the
wizard will ask you for additional port information. Select Custom and
click Settings. This will bring up the Configure Standard TCP/IP Port
Monitor window. Change the protocol to LPR and set the LPR queue name
to L1, L2 or L3 based upon what you keyed in above. Click OK. Click
Next and then Finish. The wizard will then walk you through the rest
of the Install Printer wizard (mfg. and model selection, etc). |
