Hi Martin! The following article may be of your interest: A Mac Box Worth Weight in Gold By Leander Kahney ?A lot of seemingly worthless items are auctioned on eBay every day. But perhaps taking the phenomenon to new heights, an empty cardboard box has just been auctioned for more than $500.? ?The box dates from 1984 and contained one of the first Macintosh computers. The box was sold without the computer.? (..) ?The box attracted 18 bids from about nine different bidders. At first, the bidding remained relatively low -? less than $60 -? but in the last couple of days, the price of the box jumped in increments of about $50 as four bidders competed for it. The winning bid was $536.? You can read the full article at the following link: http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,51208,00.html Regards, Bobbie |

I'm not sure how the software for the folders could be sold, unless a printout or a disk containing the original code was sold as an historical document. Here's an article about the development of Mac icons by Atkinson, Hertzfeld, Kapps, Kare, et al. Working on the Macintosh Source: Interview with Susan Kare, 8 September 2000. Designing Icons http://library.stanford.edu/mac/primary/interviews/kare/mac.html hlabadie-ga |

Hi hlabadie-ga and JB, I know you've searched hard on this one - and perhaps this is too hard...I know. It was a colleague of mine based out of Germany, which saw this article some months ago in a German magazine. I honestly had a hard time believing him but he was pretty admit about this. The story is good and has a perfect match in my book, which is the reason for this question. I'm sorry but your suggestions doesn?t really match what I'm looking for - but thanks for your effort on this one. All the best, Martin |
