Hi pacmarrin, with a bit of research I turned up the following: from http://www.sasked.gov.sk.ca/docs/paa/infobul/paa.html (this may vary depending on the institution) A "Survey" course is one that is developed by selecting curriculum modules from three or more PAA "Pure" courses. It can meet the PAA requirements for Core Curriculum at the Middle and Secondary Levels. Searching dictionary.com for survey course yields http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=survey%20course where we find: survey course n. An academic course consisting of an overview of a broad topic or field of knowledge. Unfortunately, the latter definition for a survey course matches the generally accepted definition one for a foundation course, that is an overview course setting the bases for further study in the domain. Therefore, unless your institution subscribes to the same definition as the university of Saskatchewan, well, I tried :) |
