i believe that he invented a magnet at fermi national lab used in
linear accelerators, i know he was written up in time magazing upon
his death probably in the 1970s to early 1980s, before they kept web
based records. probably from illinois. also collected arrowheads and
carved wooden mallard ducks.

How sure are you of the name?

The reason I'm asking is that someone written up in Time magazine
should not be too difficult to find in biographical resources, but I'm
coming up pretty empty-handed so far in my search for "Harding
Hanson".

Might he have a different spelling of the last name? Perhaps his
given name was something other than Harding?

Any additional information you have -- even the smallest tidbits --
may be a help in tracking down his information. With just a few more
clues, I might be able to give you a good account of his history.

Thanks.

the last name should be hanson, as you pointed out the first name
could be incorrect. maybe check under hardy? can you look under anyone
fitting the description of the work? maybe ( i doubt it) the last name
is listed differently. other family names were serles and runyon.
i also know he invented the magnet used in the linear accelerator. he
probably lived in or near chicago. i know for a fact that he was in
the time article after his death as an important person. sorry i can't
give you much more, the whole side of the family has passed away. i
just remember seeing the article and wanted a copy.

could be harding or hardy, not sure of another name. i do know for a
fact that i've seen the time article talking about his passing and him
having worked on the magnets in the linear accelerator lab. the whole
side of the family has passed but other family names were serles and
runyon.

As far as you know, was this man an American citizen or perhaps a
citizen of some other foreign country? Do you have the names of any
other of his family members, such as a wife or children?
Approximately what years would he have lived in Chicago?

Please furnish the name of your grandfather and all of grandfather's
brothers and sisters and grandfathers parents names, so a genealogical
trace can be done to find out "Harding Hanson's" actual correct name.
Also mention Harding's parent's names and brothers/sisters's names and
what city/state they lived in.
