Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

"In honor of the season," Saint Peter said, "You must each possess
something that symbolizes the Christmas spirit in order to get into
heaven. Otherwise, we'll send you to purgatory until after New
Year's."

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a cigarette
lighter. He flicked it on. "See how brightly it glows? It represents a
candle," he said.

"Very nice. You may pass through the pearly gates," Saint Peter said, with a smile.

The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys.
He shook them and said, "Jing-a-ling! Sounds like sleigh bells."

Saint Peter nodded and said, "Quite imaginative. You may pass through
the pearly gates."

The third man rummaged desperately through his pockets and finally
pulled out a pair of women's panties.

St. Peter raised his eyebrow skeptically and said, "If these were
pantyhose, I might assume that they represented Christmas stockings.
But panties? Just what aspect of Christmas do these symbolize?"

The man replied, "Well... they're Carols."
