The lowest temperature recorded in the United States on November 20, 2003 was 
-44 degrees Fahrenheit.  It was recorded at Arctic Village, Alaska. 
The lowest temperature recorded in the contiguous 48 states on that
date was 6 degrees Fahrenheit.  It was recorded at Big Piney, Wyoming.
