Hello kz1879,
I have been unable to find any direct spoken quote about the
assasination of Abraham Lincoln. I was able to find reference to
Lincoln's memory and his ideas on slavery, as written by Orestes
Brownson, in 1865, after Lincoln's death. If this is what you are
looking for, I'd be happy to post it as an answer.

I have that stuff. Brownson was editor of the _Brownson Review_ but it
went out of print in 1864. He was a very prominent Catholic
apologists, and must have written somewhere a comment on the
assassination. I went through the _Collected Works_, and, like you,
found the general assessment of the Lincoln presidency and manner in
which he conducted the war.
So, do you think you can still help?

I'll keep looking, but I had run pretty dry when I posted the
clarification request.
Actually what I found was written in the the American Republic. I went
through dozens of sites, and came up with nothing directly related to
the assasination. If I do come across anything in my searches, I will
definitely post it. In the meantime, perhaps another researcher will
have better luck!
