What are the best online economics classes? I would like it
to be from an accredited university, but I don't want to have to worry
about taking tests to get in. I live abroad and would like some more
developement while staying in my present position.

karatsumatt -

Excellent question, thanks for submitting it to our forum.
I have experience with several online Universities, so could probably
give you the information you need, but please let me know the
following:
1) Where are you in the world?
2) What kind of Internet access do you have? i.e. dialup or broadband
3) What are your expectations as far as interaction, participation in
online discussions etc.
4) Do you want to also engage in team work or would you rather only
work independently?
5) Are you pursuing a degree at all? Or do you just want to take some courses?

thanks,
ragingacademic

Thanks for your prompt responce.

1.Where are you in the world?
I live and teach in Japan in a pretty rural area.

2. What kind of Internet access do you have?
I have a DSL connection.

3. What are your expectations as far as interaction, participation in
online discussions etc.
I suppose that my primary interest is a course were the content is
well presented, there is interaction with the teacher for questions
and queries, and something that will be regarded as a genuine course
of study (not some internet course that anyone can fill out the
paperwork and pass).
Less important is cost (although cheaper is nice) and group
participation (because I imagine my daily experience where I live is
rather different than other individuals that would be participating in
the course).

4) Do you want to also engage in team work or would you rather only
work independently?
Probably independently. I think that if I pursued an MBA this would be
different, but I am mainly interested in intermediate level Macro and
Micro Economics, marketing, and maybe something like managerial
accounting... Honestly, I don't mind either way, but my main concern
is acquiring a background in the subject content area.

5) Are you pursuing a degree at all?
I already have a couple of degrees, so this is something more about
professional development and improving opportunities for other job
positions.

Or do you just want to take some courses?
This is personal interest but I definately have a mind to do well and
use it on a CV in applying for future positions.
