I am interested in area of biomedical. FYI, I got my BS of Computer
Engineering and about to finish my MS of Electrical
Engineering(specializing in Signal and Image Processing and Artificial
Intelligence ). Currently starting my thesis related to
neurosystem(focusing on motor cortex). Since I have no working
experience except on Programming and Imaging for research, I would
like to utilize my thesis to be selling point in getting into
biomedical industry. Definitely, the job that I would like to land on
has to do with programming and imaging as they are my expertise that
can be used to my advantage.

1)My question is what areas of biomedical industry that is in high
demand(hot demand) that is related to me?
2) What skills/courses/knowledge you would advise me to obtain to
better achieve my goal?

Could you please attach some of the companies links that have jobs
related to that area for clarification.
My purpose is to tune my area of interest to the direction of market
that is on high demand and better prepare myself to meet the job
requirement. Of course not forgo my interest in biomedical.
Thanks

Greetings, jobhunter!

I have identified a number of businesses and areas which would seem to
coincide nicely with your expertise. Can you give me a little better
idea of how your thesis of neurosystems is related to your specialty?
This would make it easier for me to pinpoint possible additional
areas.

Thanks,

my thesis is about hand movement prediction based on neuron signal.
Neuron signals will first be processed using signal processings steps.
Next ,classification using Artificial Intelligence will predict the
hand motion.
The motivation for this thesis is to allow amputated person to control
motorized limb using brain signals with accuracy. As this is initial
stage of my thesis, I am willing to change my topic to suit the
industry demand. However, I preferably work with neurons.

thanks!

I'm not sure how much overlap there would be between imaging and your
thesis subject of directed robotic movements. Is there some connection
that I'm not seeing between the two subjects about which you can
provide me more information?

Thanks,

ace

As you might already know, signal processing and image processing can
be lump to be one area of processing. This is because signal is 1D and
image is 2D. Not much difference generally.

"overlap there would be between imaging and your
thesis subject of directed robotic movements. "

Since my data is 1D data colected using microsensor inserted into
brain of monkey, I would use the word signal.
Signal collected from brain neurons (motor cortex) contains encoded
message to instruct movement of hand. Therefore, by extracting this
message , it can be used to control robotic arm.
I hope signal will make more sense to you.

I hope this better clarify your doubt.
Feel free to ask me any further question.

Ah, thanks, that gives me some further leads to pursue. Once I add
those to my list of specialty areas, along with some companies that
follow those lines, and the list of skills and qualities that will
likely go hand-in-hand with jobs in those areas, I'll get an Answer
posted for you.

Regards,

ace
