It's possible that this was sung by Jimmy Somerville, but I'm not certain.

You just beat me to it! "Name that tune" questions always intrigue me,
and tend to stick in the back of my mind... and I finally remembered
the song on the way home, only to find you'd posted the info here. :)

On the brighter side, at least I remembered the song before the
question expired... I'm still sore about a similar question this past
summer, where I remembered the song the day after the question
expired.
