This is a tricky question. I'm looking for some statistics indicating how many people changes the default ring-tone when purchasing a cell phone (worldwide or on a country level). As you know every cell phone is installed with a default ring tone - you can change this manually - however many people don't change this - but keep the cell phone manufacturers default ring-tone. Please note that I'm not looking for other cell phone related statistics - so please do not send me other statistics unless they are directly related to my "default" ring-tone request. Good luck, Martin |

These statistics are related to your request, but they concern only downloaded ringtones, not including non-default ringtones that are resident on the phone: "In Great Britain alone, 3.4 million cell phone users change their ringtone on a monthly basis. That is 39 percent of mobile users in Great Britain." http://www.i4uuu.com/3w/english/ringtones.htm "Sales of ringtones and logos for mobile phones in Western Europe will generate a revenue of E 225M in annual sales by 2003, according to a new report by research company based Strategy Analytics. The study reveals that that 24 percent of users in the region had already downloaded either a ringtone or a logo for their mobile phone?s screen. The report also shows that Sweden the Netherlands and Germany have the highest penetration in this market, while France and Italy are following." http://www.iabuk.net/index.php?class=news&view=486 |

Hi pinkfreud-ga, Thanks for your answer. I knew it was a tough one ;-) Unfortantly your data is not accurate enough as the 39 percent dosn't indicate how many is tampering with their default ring-tone due to the fact that most cell phones has up to 40 standard ring-tones to choose between. So we can only assume that a substantial lower amount of consumers (below 61 per cent) changes the default ring-tone ... however we have no clue about how many as it in theory could be everything from 1 to 61 per cent. Sorry about this - but please do keep looking. All the best from Martin |
