Dear fatcontroller-ga,

The connection is the Wombles and their character names. The Wombles
was a 1970s British television show for children (and quite a few
adults).

"With Great Uncle Bulgaria, the Wombles were Tomsk, Orinoco,
Tobermory, Wellington, Bungo and their French housemaid (ahem!) Mme.
Cholet."

Tried a few preliminary searches without luck. Took out the atlas from
my bookshelf and started looking at eastern Europe. It then came to me
in a flash when I saw Bulgaria. I am British so I knew of the Wombles
and some of their names.
