  That's exactly Retina is used for, download the trial, run it on a
machine on the network and enter the IP of the machine that hosts the
network time, this software will start scanning the target machine
looking for vulnerabilites a hacker can use to hack it. When the
process finishes, you will get a detailed report of vulnerabilities.

I hope this helps, if not, just tell me what do you mean exactly by
timer, is an ntp server?
