I need to know the extent of women's social political or economical
advancement through employment during and post world war I.
Specifically, any employment data of women shortly after the war (eg.
1919, 1920, or 1921) in comparison with comporable employment data of
women during the war, (in Canada between 1914 and 1918, in the US
between 1917 and 1918). Any employment data is acceptable, for example
the number of women employed, or the unemployment rates for women, or
the proportion of employed women to homemakers. I need that statistic
for both Canada and the US.
Any other discussion or data pertaining to the general topic would be helpful
Some websites I have found include
http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/war/wwone/women_employment_01.shtml,
which is an execellent example of the type of information I am looking
for, however has data about women in Britain. I also found
http://www.boondocksnet.com/labor/history/abbott/abbott12h.html and
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0104673.html which has some useful data
but does not completely answer the question.
Also please do not give me any information for European countries,
especially Britain. Thanks! |
