I remember a science fiction book I read a long time ago, that I would
like to locate. The main premise of the plot was that the main
character landed on a planet that was populated by very venomous
creatures, and the local population has perfected the use of
wrist-guns to battle the dangers. The main hero learns the use of the
wrist-guns, and then figures out that the venomous activity is only
happening on the land where people live- further figuring out that the
planet itself is driving the venomous creatures to kill people. Could
you help me find it?

Hi sputman,

The book(s) are are looking for is "DEATH WORLD" by Harry Harrison (it
is actually a trilogy that was made into eight comic books).

I found the following discussion by doing a search on Google for:
"wrist guns" planet "science fiction"
"What made it interesting was that the hostility came from the deadly
flora and fauna. Because these were venomous and could strike out
(much as a snake does) the heroes wore wrist guns that would spring
out from under their sleeves in an instant."
"The story about the planet with hostile flora & fauna, and
wrist-guns, wasn?t called ?Deadly World? ? it was ?Death World? by
well known science fiction writer Harry Harrison (who wrote Deathworld
1, 2, and 3)."

Luckily, all three books are available and it is just a matter of
finding the "best buy" for your location - usually buying more than
one copy from the same bookseller will save on postage. Following are
a few examples:

Death World 1: $3.50 (in US)

Death World 2: $2.50 (same seller as above)

Death World 3: $3.30 (in US)
