Some items I've been curious about: Although I'm sure we verified it was really him when we captured Saddam Hussein, why haven't we caught his lookalike doubles? Saddam apparently ordered his Air Force not to fly any planes against the Coalition. What did Coalition forces do with those planes upon finding them? Destroy them? Mothball? Give them to whichever NATO allies (if any) still use Warsaw-pact era aircraft? Bonus question: What eventually happened to the Iraqi pilots and planes that fled to Iran during the first Gulf War? |

They have caught several doubles but they were quick to say that they were only lookalikes and offer lots of proof so they didn't get a whole lotta press. His sons were kiled and they have DNA samples from them so there is no question about getting the right guy it is as verifiable as a paternity test on one of those afternoon trash TV shows we all hate to watch eg. MAURY. The planes will be transfered to the next Iraqi administration as long as they are not equiped for nuclear or chem weapons or something. Iran kept the planes that went over there. I am not sure they will ever retun them and I am not sure anyone really cares. |
