Hello, bd2-ga,

After researching your question for a number of hours, I have finally
reached a point where the same websites are toppling over one another
within searches and directory links. Most of the information dealing
with teaching strategies is included within organizational websites
that are geared toward parents, teachers and other professionals.
There are numerous information sites about learning disabilities for
the general consumer but they don't hit on educational methods. It is
very hard to find parenting sites that focus on teaching strategies
for the learning disabled other than those that simply include tips
for preschoolers.

The references I have listed all include learning strategies or links
within the website. I have also found a few websites that include
newsletters, journals or magazines that outline educational
strategies.

You have done a fine job on finding sites related to educating the
learning disabled teen. It obviously was a lot of work and some of it
may be helpful. However, I am specifically looking for sites related
to or discussing the BEHAVIORALLY disabled teen (sometimes called the
emotionally disturbed teen). At times, a teen may be both and it can
be confusing if a person is not acquainted with state/federal
regulations.

Let me explain my purpose. I am an author of professional books for
educating the behaviorally disabled. I am interested in writing
(columns, articles, and/or Q & A, or even offering live chat) for
sites, journals, magazines etc. that reach out to parents,
paraprofessionals and professionals who are trying to deal with these
troubled teens.

Perhaps I was not specific enough in my initial request and since you
have invested this much time, upon delivery of the above specifically
targeted info, a tip would be in order.

see what I can find. I need to take care of a few things this
afternoon, but I will do my best to get back to your question this
evening.

"The Project for Parents of Children with Emotional or Behavioral
Disorders, in its eighth year at PACER, was originally organized to
assist parents and families in understanding their rights and
responsibilities in accessing educational and mental health services
for their children. At that time, state-provided services were
extremely limited in nature and scope, and seldom involved families in
making decisions about their children's needs."

"Although the passing and implementation of the Children's Mental
Health Act has improved the design and delivery of services to
children with EBD living in Minnesota, there remains work to be done.
The concerted advocacy of parents is required to ensure that funding
for these services meets the level of need, and that the services
themselves are responsive to the needs of families. PACER continues to
be an essential resource for parents who wish to improve their
advocacy skills, or who require information and assistance in
accessing services for their children with EBD."
