Hello, I need to know the proportion of marriage-based green cards that are approved (granted) versus those that are denied. I've browsed the INS website and there seems to be a huge amount of statistics on the number of green cards granted, but I haven't seen statistics about green cards granted vs. filed. I just need to know this ratio. (I was able to find the number of applications approved vs. denied for other immigration categories, such as EB-5 Investor immigrant.) |

Hello enivaryug and thank you for your question. The answer is, for fiscal year 2003, 53% were denied and 47% were granted. "Of the 17,900 marriage-based petitions processed in fiscal year 2003, 9,500 were denied, or a record 53%, said Mary Ann Gantner, interim director of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services' district in New York. The year before, 30% were denied." http://www.nydailynews.com/news/local/story/139622p-123971c.html Thank you for your question and if you have any queries regarding my answer do not hesitate to ask for clarification. Very best regards, and have a Happy Christmas.
