Try the following:

1.Click Start menu - Run - type Regedit and hit enter.
This will pull up registry editing tool.
2. Click Edit - Find - and type msconfd - NO .dll on the end
3. When it finds the entry containing msconfd, it should show in the
column on the right, right click on the entry and select delete.
4. Select YES - for "Are you sure" question
5. Hit F3 to continue searching as the msconfd may be hidden in more
than one spot.
6. Exit regedit and reboot.

Let me know if this works.

Hi 1lh1-ga,
   It looks like your system has been infected with a variant of the
CoolWebSearch Trojan Horse/browser hijacker.

What is it?
===========
  For more information on the CoolWebSearch browser hijacker, see the
following article:
      - The CoolWebSearch Chronicles (The story of a thousand hijacks)
        ( http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html )
        This article provides information on the different variants of
CoolWebSearch. Your system appears to be infected by variant 22:
CWS.Msconfd. The article also provides the fix for this problem.

  Also note that the Symantec Security Response Center identifies this
software as the trojan horse Trojan.Bookmarker. For more information,
see:
      - Symantec Security Response - Trojan.Bookmarker
       ( http://sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.bookmarker.html )

How do I fix it?
================
  Fortunately, this variant of CoolWebSearch is *relatively* benign,
in that it does not make any permanent modifications to your system
files. To completely rid your system of this trojan, just download and
run the CWShredder utility.
      - The CoolWebSearch Chronicles: Fix
       ( http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html#cwshredder )

Alternatively, you can use one of the anti-spyware software utilities
available on the web. These will allow you to easily detect and remove
CoolWebSearch and any other trojan/spyware that may be installed on
your system. Two of the most popular spyware removers are:
      - Spybot: Search & Destroy
        (http://www.safer-networking.org/)
        Free! Highly recommended.

      - AdAware
        (http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/)
        Free version available.

Prevention
==========
To prevent future infection by any spyware/maleware/trojans, I
recommend that you install both an antivirus and an anti-spyware
utility on your system. Be sure to keep them both updated, and scan
your system periodically.

==========================================================================

Hope this helps.
If you need any clarifications, just ask!

Regards,
Theta-ga
:-)
