Dear John,
The picture you are describing, as well as the following photos, were
taken by the German photographer Herbert W. Hesselmann.

He tells of this series :
"most successful photostories: "Sleeping Beauties" the fairytale-like
story of discovering a unique colection of Classic Cars in opening the
gates of an old barn... photographed for STERN magazine and worldwide
publications" (SOURCE: Hesselmann's site).

It was published in the German magazine "Stern", under "Der Millionenschrott".
This was also published, so it seems, at the "Automobile Quarterly"
magazine. Copy of this issue (with the photos in their best, as
published, state), could be ordered directly from Automobile Quarterly
(Volume 22 Number 2), at :
<http://www.autoquarterly.com/back21_25.html>. I must proclaim,
nevertheless, that although it is pretty certain that the photo
appears in this issue, I would inspect its quality before buying it.
However, Hesselmann gives his address in his site, for people
interested in buying his photos:
mailto:Hesselmann-Foto@t-online.de
You could also buy it on a CD, from his site.
A German posters site also sells some of the Sleeping Beauties,
unfortunately not your Bugatti T57, but:

And more Type 57: http://www.klangundkleid.de/plakate/classics/detail.asp?ID=9521&Classics=Sleeping+Beauties

I hope that answers your question. We usually add an explanation of
our search strategy here. In my case, lots of luck was involved: I saw
the beautiful photo (I also love classic cars...) and its name, looked
in the original site, and saw that the two related photos were both
called "Sleeping Beauties". So, I began to search the Web (through
Google Index and Google Images) as well as image searches for
"Sleeping Beauties", with Bugatti and without it. Hesselmann's page
was in the 10th results' page, to show you that patience pays.
Please contact me if you need any further clarification on this answer
before you tip/rate it. |
