Hi,

I would like to know if there are any specific courses available in
Ireland and/or the UK to enable me to become further qualified as a
Stock Market Trader? I am currently undertaking a Diploma in Stock
Market Trading in Dublin Business School but I would like to know what
academic oppourtunities are available to me specifically for stock
trading? Any help or information you can provide would be greatly
appreciated.

Thank you for your question regarding ways you can further your
qualification as a stock market trader in Ireland and the UK.

You are most likely already familiar with the recent changes to the
securities regulation environment in Ireland and in the UK. In the
case of Ireland, the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of
Ireland was officially commenced on May 1st, 2003. In the UK, the
Financial Services Authority gained full power over all financial and
securities regulation in 2001.

In both jurisdictions, the Securities Institute has established itself
as the professional body of choice for the financial and securities
industries. The Securities Institute was established in 1992 by the
members of the London Stock Exchange. Part of its mission is to ensure
that all financial and securities professionals are held to the same
high level of standards across all firms. The lead tools used in
achieving this are the Securities Instititute Certificate
Examinations.

If you are interested in progressing from Stock Market Trader to an
Investment Adviser, then you will need to obtain the SI Diploma:

The Securities Institute also offers some non-qualification courses,
but most of these should be covered in your current diploma programme:

You will also want to consider membership in the Securities
Instititute regardless of whether you take any of their examinations.
They have recently started an Ireland-based Institute, that you can
read a bit about at:

I hope that this information is helpful to you, and welcome any
requests for clarification that you may have.

Regards,
