I am using Intellisync for Yahoo! at work, and now I am getting an
error that says that my Password and/or user name is incorrect. I
know that they are correct, as this used to work perfectly just a few
weeks ago. I have tried to get help from my IT group, Yahoo! and Puma
Technologies (makers of Intellisync) without any luck. My IT group
had just recently "locked down" our corporate exchange server, and
believes that this may be the cause of my troubles. This used to work
just fine from work before that made changes to the exchange server.
Could you please tell me which port or protocol needs to be opened on
the exchange server to allow me to sych my Outlook and my Yahoo!
accounts?

Please let me know if this information is helpful to your IT folks; if
not, I can do some more research to identify other things they can try
to get you back 'in sync'!

In my own experience using Intellisync for Yahoo!, I've found that the
most likely cause for this error message ("Cannot login to Yahoo.
Please check your username and password and try again") is the need to
configure a proxy server.

I4Y! does not interact with your corporate Exchange server. It
interacts with your MS Outlook client on your computer. It attempts to
communicate with Yahoo! at psync.yahoo.com, at a dynamically allocated
TCP port (I've seen them ranging from 1150 on up). Once the login has
been accepted, it then exchanges data over two other dynamically
allocated TCP ports (again, I've seen them ranging from 3200 on up).

When your IT folks tightened up security on the Exchange server, did
they by any chance change anything on the corporate firewall/proxy?
That's the most likely place to look. If you can convince an admin to
work with you, they can set up a trigger range of TCP 1150 to, say,
1180, and time-limit accept incoming on ports 3200 through 3300. If
that 'fixes' your problem, then they can at least narrow down the
range and shorten the time period for accepting incoming to at most a
few seconds.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond to my question.
I have forward your comments on to our IT group and hopefully it will
work. I do believe that they did indeed make changes on the corporate
firewall. I think this may actually work, I'll let you know!
