hi Ihave a MTD sowblower with a 3hp tecumseh 2 stroke engine in it and it is runnig extremly fast. I need to know how to slow the engine down, there is no throtle control on this model. When it is under load it runs fine but when not the motor runs so fast it sounds as if the piston is going to come through the head. It never sounded like this any other winter. Thanks |

The linkege to the governor must be stuck and need to be loosened up. I'm not acquainted with the model you have, but there should be a wire linkege from the carburator throttle to the governor, make sure it's not rusted or stuck. When working normal, the motor should run at operating speed, then when you hit a load of snow the motor will attempt to slow down under the load which should cause the governor to add more throttle. It must be stuck in the [add throttle] position. |
